WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Multiple vehicle crashes were reported across West Virginia Monday evening and Tuesday morning following widespread snowfall.
Although the snow totals weren’t large —1-3 inches for most —the impacts made travel so treacherous.
Monday evening, temperatures dropped into the low 20s and high teens, resulting in icy conditions and most of the snow falling to stick on roadways.
West Virginia’s interstates and four-lane highways also experienced travel issues.
U.S. 19 from Raleigh County to Nicholas County experienced multiple traffic issues, including U.S. 19 southbound being completely shut down for a few hours on Monday night due to a tractor-trailer crash.
West Virginia 511 was showing dozens of wrecks and road closures Monday night and Tuesday morning due to the snowy and icy conditions.
Conditions look to improve by Tuesday afternoon as temperatures rise, even climbing into the 50s by Wednesday.
