LAUREL COUNTY, KY (LOOTPRESS) — A powerful tornado tore through parts of Laurel County late Friday evening, leaving a trail of destruction, multiple injuries, and confirmed fatalities, according to the Laurel-Whitley County Emergency Management Office.
Emergency crews are continuing to search the rubble of destroyed homes and buildings for survivors and additional victims. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed, but officials have confirmed that several people have lost their lives.
Among the hardest-hit areas are the Sunshine Hills neighborhood, Levi Jackson Wilderness Road Park, the Oaks of London subdivision, and the London-Corbin Airport. Residents in these areas reported terrifying scenes as the tornado ripped through with little warning.
