FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation (WV DCR) has confirmed the death of an inmate at Mount Olive Correctional Center.
As a result, multiple employees have been placed on leave, and WV DCR is pursuing charges against another inmate.
“The WV DCR remains committed to ensuring the safety, well-being, and quality of life of those in its care. We extend our sympathies to the friends and families affected by this loss.”
As the incident remains under investigation by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Criminal Investigation Division and the West Virginia State Police, no further information is available at this time.
When LOOTPRESS asked Andy Malinoski, Director, Marketing and Communications, with the Department of Corrections, about how many employees were on leave and who the victim was, we were told no more information would be released at this time.
