UPDATE: RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Raleigh County deputies responded Thursday to a series of tragic events which led to the death of two individuals, the identities of which have purportedly been brought to light as the investigation continues to unfold.

A female involved in the incident passed away as a result of injuries sustained via multiple gunshot wounds and has been identified by sources as Teresa Jeffries. The shooter in the incident, who would flee the scene before ultimately turning the gun on himself, has likewise been identified as John Carpenter.

“There is no active threat,” said Raleigh County Sheriff Canaday following the incident, indicating that the search for the perpetrator had concluded with death of the shooter.

The investigation remains ongoing, and LOOTPRESS will provide updates with any additional details that become available.

UPDATE: RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Thursday, June 29th, Deputies with the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting on Rt. 19 in front of Shady Spring Elementary School.

When Deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered a female driver had been shot multiple times and had died on the scene from her injuries. Through the investigation, a suspect was quickly identified and Deputies along with the WVSP responded to a possible address. While there the suspect arrived on scene and was confronted by law enforcement.

Shortly after being confronted by law enforcement, the suspect took his own life. Through the investigation, this appears to be a domestic-related incident.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force, Beckley City Police Department, and the WVSP for their assistance. The Sheriff’s Office would also like to thank Ghent Volunteer Fire Department and Jan Care for their assistance.

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Authorities with several departments are currently engaged in an ongoing situation in which at least one individual has sustained a potentially fatal gunshot wound.

As confirmed via local dispatch, both city and county law enforcement have been actively pursuing a suspect who was believed to have been traveling by vehicle in a charcoal Camry, in a situation which is implied to have been domestic in origin.

Ghent Volunteer Fire Department units are among the entities which have responded to the situation with traffic along US Rt. 19 having blocked off for an extended, albeit unspecified period. Flat Top Road near Shady Spring Elementary has also been closed until further notice, and motorists in the area have been asked to seek out alternative routes for travel.

123123 Primrose Lane has been indicated to be a key location in the response effort. It is believed that multiple instances of shooting may have occurred – the first near the location of Shady Spring Middle School – and that the second, likely fatal, gunshot wound to the head may have been self-inflicted.

LOOTPRESS will continue to provide updates on the situation as additional details become available in this developing story.
