BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Authorities with several departments are currently engaged in an ongoing situation in which at least one individual has sustained a potentially fatal gunshot wound.
As confirmed via local dispatch, both city and county law enforcement have been actively pursuing a suspect who was believed to have been traveling by vehicle in a charcoal Camry, in a situation which is implied to have been domestic in origin.
Ghent Volunteer Fire Department units are among the entities which have responded to the situation with traffic along US Rt. 19 having blocked off for an extended, albeit unspecified period. Flat Top Road near Shady Spring Elementary has also been closed until further notice, and motorists in the area have been asked to seek out alternative routes for travel.
123123 Primrose Lane has been indicated to be a key location in the response effort. It is believed that multiple instances of shooting may have occurred – the first near the location of Shady Spring Middle School – and that the second, likely fatal, gunshot wound to the head may have been self-inflicted.
