FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – UPDATE 5/5/25 12:17 PM: According Fayette County Schools, due to the power outage, Oak Hill High and Middle dismissed at 12 PM while New River Primary and New River Intermediate will dismiss at 1 PM.
The Fayette Institute of Technology graduation scheduled for today has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Nearly 5,000 Appalachian Power customers in Fayette County are without electricity as of Monday morning.
According to Appalachian Power, 4,842 customers are without power in Fayette County stretching from Fayetteville, Gatewood, Oak Hill, Summerlee, and Minden.
Appalachian Power has not released the cause of the outage, power is estimated to be restored to these areas by 6 PM today, May 5, 2025.
