BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The newest Goodwill location in the Beckley area opened its doors on Thursday.
The parking area was packed, as was the inside shopping area as Raleigh County residents flocked to the new location by the dozens.
Extensive lines of customers could be observed inside the store as cashiers at multiple registers worked to ring up patrons.
Situated in the former Party City location off Robert C. Byrd Drive, the opening marks a significant expansion for the store, formerly located on Appalachian Drive.
The highly anticipated opening follows that of the Lester Square Goodwill location, which opened its doors in Sophia in 2022.
Initially scheduled to coincide with the opening was a ribbon-cutting ceremony to be held with the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce. It was not to be, however, as power issues at the store on Thursday led to a delay in the event.
The ribbon-cutting with the chamber has since been rescheduled and will now take place at 9:00am Friday morning.
