MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A new initiative aimed at helping families in rural communities is coming to Mercer County.
The RISE Guaranteed Minimum Income (GMI) program will provide no-strings-attached cash payments to randomly selected residents to help support basic needs.
Funded by a generous grant from the Atwoods, the program will provide up to $24,000 over 16 months to families living in poverty.
Participants will receive $1,500 per month, which they can use for food, rent, business expenses, or whatever they need most.
To qualify, applicants must be 18 or older, live in Mercer County, and have a household income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
Applications for Mercer County residents will open on October 14 and close on October 31.
Eligible residents are encouraged to apply promptly for a chance to participate in the program.
