BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – New River Community and Technical College has announced that an official partnership agreement has been signed between New River CTC and Marshall University which will provide additional educational opportunities for students throughout West Virginia.
The agreement will simplify to process for associate degree graduates to continue their education at Marshall University and also establishes the framework for future collaborative efforts of this nature between the two educational institutions.
“Today is a big step for both schools as we join forces to help students and build up the skills of West Virginia’s Workforce,” said Brad D. Smith, President of Marshall University. “We’re committed to making education more accessible for everyone in our state and preparing a dynamic workforce primed for today’s economy.”
New River Community and Technical College President, Dr. Bonny Copenhaver expressed enthusiasm at the opportunities presented through the agreement.
“New River CTC is dedicated to providing opportunities that help our students and the communities we serve,” said Dr. Copenhaver of the partnership agreement. “This partnership with Marshall University allows us to expand those opportunities, opening doors to our graduates to build upon the skills they’ve developed and continue their education seamlessly.”
The new Bachelor of Applied Science degree will allow community college graduates with an AAS degree to finish out a four-year degree without the additional burden of having to complete superfluous courses in general education. The degree will offer students the opportunity to develop additional skill sets as well as develop those skills in their experiential learning placements.
