SUMMERSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Nicholas County Board of Education is currently accepting letters of interest and resumes from citizens interested in filling two vacant seats on the board.
The vacancies are the result of two recent resignations, and the appointed individuals will serve until July 30, 2026.
The appointments will be made by the West Virginia Board of Education through the State Superintendent of Schools.
In accordance with state law (W. Va. Code § 3-5-6), no more than two members of the board may serve from the same magisterial district.
Therefore, only citizens who reside in the Birch District or Gauley District are eligible for consideration.
Interested residents of those two districts must submit a letter of interest and resume to Mr. Scott Cochran, Superintendent of Nicholas County Schools.
Submissions should be sent to the County Board of Education Office located at 400 Old Main Drive, Summersville, WV 26651. All materials must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025.
Once reviewed, appointments will be announced on or before August 4, 2025.
