NICHOLAS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Sheriff of Nicholas County has changed his political party affiliation.
Nicholas County Sheriff William Nunley II joined the Republican Executive Committee of Nicholas County on Tuesday to announce his political party switch from Democrat to Republican.
Nunley was joined by Republican chairwoman Benjean Rapp and County Clerk Robert Painter.
Nicholas County Commissioner Garett Cole says, “I am very proud and excited to welcome Nicholas County Sheriff Nunley to the Republican Party. I believe Sheriff Nunley understands that the GOP proudly stands behind our men and women in blue, and so do the vast majority of Nicholas County’s Citizens. Welcome, Sheriff Nunley.”
Sheriff Nunley easily won re-election in 2020 when he ran as a Democrat and defeated Republican Rodney Jamison.
In Nicholas County, WV, 20.9% of the people voted Democrat in the last presidential election, 77.9% voted for the Republican Party, and the remaining 1.2% voted Independent.
