CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – As clocks fell back an hour early Sunday morning, night shift nurses at Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) received special recognition for their hard work and dedication.
In celebration of the extra hour added to their shifts when daylight saving time ended at 2 a.m., CAMC partnered with Western Governors University (WGU) to honor the hospital’s night shift nurses with thoughtful care packages.
WGU’s annual “Night Shift Nurse” event celebrates nurses who work the overnight shift, and this year, 13 nursing units at CAMC were gifted care packages filled with treats and practical items.
Nursing students from Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College packed the boxes, which were about the size of a small shoe box and included sleep masks, Post-It Notes, pens, pupil lights, bandage scissors, chocolate candy, and a heartfelt thank-you note.
CAMC nurses opened their boxes at 2 a.m., a gesture designed to show appreciation for the extra mile night shift workers go to keep the hospital running smoothly.
