CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Saturday, multiple people throughout West Virginia participated in a day of nationwide protests called “No Kings,” opposing what participants describe as authoritarian and militarized actions by the Trump administration.
There were protests held in multiple municipalities throughout the state, including in Charleston, Bluefield, Huntington, Morgantown, and Lewisburg.

Yesterday’s protests in the Mountain State remained peaceful, with no reported arrests or incidents.
The protests were organized by a coalition of groups, including the 50501 Movement, a national movement that opposes the Trump administration’s alleged authoritarian actions.
The gatherings were held on the same day President Trump attended a military parade in Washington, D.C., commemorating the Army’s 250th anniversary, and came amid heightened tensions in Los Angeles, where National Guard troops were deployed in response to anti-ICE demonstrations.
The protests included multiple chants and signs that voiced disagreement and frustration with the Trump administration.
West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey placed the West Virginia National Guard and West Virginia State Police on standby ahead of the planned protests.
Following the protest in Lewisburg, the Greenbrier County Republican Executive Committee (GREC), in a Facebook post, called the event a “repulsive spectacle” and “not representative of Greenbrier County’s values.”
In the same post, the GCREC stated that it will be hosting an event of its own called the “Patriots MAGA Rally” on July 5th from 12-2 PM in Lewisburg.
