MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A North Carolina man sustained life-threatening injuries on Thursday morning following a motorcycle crash on Interstate 77 in Mercer County.
According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred at approximately 11:36 a.m. near the 7-mile marker. The 58-year-old man was traveling northbound when he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with the cable median barrier. The motorcycle came to rest in the median.
Deputies arrived on scene to find several bystanders already performing life-saving measures. They assisted the Princeton Rescue Squad, who transported the injured rider to Princeton Community Hospital.
No additional information about the crash or the rider’s condition has been released at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
