OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Oak Hill City Manager Cris Meadows has resigned from his position less than a year after being appointed.
Meadows’ resignation was announced during a special meeting of the Oak Hill City Council held Thursday evening.
Meadows was not in attendance.
The meeting agenda included a request to replace a dump truck that recently caught fire for the Oak Hill Street Department that was approved, discussion of the 2026–2027 coal severance budget that was tabled, and a personnel matter that included a planned executive session concerning Meadows.
Council was in executive session for nearly an hour and a half.Â
The reason for Meadows’ resignation was that he decided to enter retirement early, according to Mayor Charles Briscoe.
Oak Hill GIS Coordinator Tyler Bragg has been appointed interim city manager.
Meadows was hired in June 2025 following a 5–2 vote by council, with an annual salary of $100,000. He succeeded former City Manager Damita Johnson, who retired from the position.
Prior to his appointment in Oak Hill, Meadows served for an extended period as city manager in Hinton.
