OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – As communities prepare to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, the Oak Hill Fire Department is reminding residents to follow the city’s fireworks ordinance and celebrate safely.
According to the City of Oak Hill’s fireworks ordinance, fireworks may only be used, ignited or discharged within the city limits from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.
The city warns that using fireworks outside those designated dates and hours may result in penalties under Ordinance 6.22.100 and fines of up to $500.
The Oak Hill Fire Department also encouraged residents to be mindful of others while celebrating.
“While everyone is excited to celebrate America 250, we want to remind you that there are only 3 days in the year that it legal to set them off.
Please be safe and considerate of neighbors and animals when celebrating with fireworks.”
