OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An Oak Hill man is arrested after setting his house on fire, claiming he couldn’t be helped because he was a dragon.
On May 30, 2024, Officers Bias and Crosier responded to a 911 call reporting a structure fire at 328 State Ave, Oak Hill, WV. Upon arrival at 2:12 pm, a neighbor informed them that the homeowner, Christopher Gilland, had returned to the burning residence.
Officer Bias attempted to persuade Mr. Gilland to move away from the fire for his safety, but Mr. Gilland refused. After multiple failed attempts, Officer Bias had to detain Mr. Gilland temporarily to ensure his and the firefighters’ safety.
Mr. Gilland claimed that the EMS personnel were deceivers and that he was a dragon, so he refused their assistance. When questioned about the fire, he admitted to starting it but did not provide further details. Despite sustaining burns, Mr. Gilland refused treatment from EMS and was subsequently arrested for second-degree arson.
