OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Monday evening, the Oak Hill City Council adopted a resolution naming the public works building after former city employee Tom Pannell.
Tom passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. He was 67.
Tom dedicated over 50 years of his life to the field of excavation and equipment operation.
After retiring from his private company, Pannell and Sons Excavating, he joined the City of Oak Hill Public Works in 2018.
While with the city, Tom spent many hours digging lines, working on the White Oak Rail Trail, and even preparing the snowplows. Â
The resolution stated that Pannell’s skills as an equipment operator were a tremendous asset to the city.
In the resolution read aloud by Councilman at Large Bill Hannabass, Pannell was described as a beloved friend and mentor.
The resolution was unanimously adopted by council members.
