OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Oak Hill is seeking applicants for the position of City Manager, the top administrative role responsible for overseeing city operations, implementing policy, and leading efforts to improve quality of life for local residents.
The next City Manager will succeed Damita Johnson, who currently holds the role and has announced her retirement.
According to a profile released by the city, the successful candidate will oversee departments such as Fire, Public Works, and Administration, as well as the city’s public utility and Sanitary Board.
The City Manager will also manage the city’s budget, which most recently reported total revenues of over $8 million, funded by sources like business and occupation taxes, service fees, sales tax, and property taxes.
Oak Hill has a population of 8,197 and operates under a Manager-Council form of government.
The seven-member City Council includes six representatives from city wards, one at-large member, and a mayor.
Candidates for the City Manager role should have at least five years of senior-level government management experience.
A degree in public administration, public policy, or a related field is required, and an MPA or MBA is preferred.
Strong budgeting skills and experience working with multi-million-dollar budgets, along with the ability to manage people and community needs, are key qualifications.
The salary range for the position is $80,000 to $100,000, with compensation negotiable based on education and experience. A benefits package is included.
