WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An Oceana man faces several charges after he allegedly entered a home and sexually assaulted a woman.
According to WV State Police, on Sunday, September 17, 2023, a call was made to police by an intoxicated man stating that Leslie Melvin Fortner attempted to rape his wife. When police arrived, the female victim was upset and said she and her husband had been riding ATVs and drinking with Fortner and his brother the night before.
The female victim stated that they dropped Fortner and his brother off at his apartment, and she and her husband went home. The victim told police that she and her husband had been in an argument, and he slept on the couch.
At around 8 a.m., Fortner allegedly entered the home, got into bed, and began to assault her sexually. She attempted to wake her husband, but he was still intoxicated and didn’t understand what was happening.
Fortner was charged with burglary, first-degree sexual abuse, and second-degree sexual assault. He is currently out on bond.
