OCEANA, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A verbal domestic dispute turned physical — and later confrontational with law enforcement — ending in the arrest of a Wyoming County woman on Wednesday evening.
At approximately 5:03 PM, Wyoming County deputies were dispatched to a residence in Oceana following a report of a domestic disturbance. Callers initially stated the incident was verbal only, with no physical contact involved.
Deputy Matthew Perry and the reporting officer arrived on scene and spoke with a household member who identified Linda Kay Decker as the other party involved. While deputies attempted to gather information, Decker allegedly repeatedly interrupted the interview, refusing to step away despite being asked multiple times.
According to witnesses, the dispute between Decker and the victim had been ongoing throughout the day. At one point, Decker allegedly bumped into and pushed the victim while in the kitchen. The victim admitted to striking Decker in self-defense.
A second witness corroborated the victim’s account. While the victim declined to press charges, deputies advised her of available legal options and support resources.
When officers attempted to speak with Decker outside, she allegedly became uncooperative and made a concerning statement:
“If you have to come back, it won’t be for a domestic.”
When asked what she meant, Decker reportedly responded, “You’ll find out.” At that point, officers moved to detain her due to the escalating situation and the threat implied in her statement.
Decker allegedly resisted arrest, refusing to put her hands behind her back and attempting to pull away. Officers were eventually able to handcuff her and transport her to the West Virginia State Police Jesse Detachment for processing.
