WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Wyoming County Prosecuting Attorney, Derek Laxton, announced that Effie Mae Gibson, 43, of Oceana, West Virginia, entered pleas of guilty on May 4th, 2026, to the Felony offenses of Possession with Intent to Deliver Fentanyl and Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine. Â
Gibson faces a potential 3-15-year prison sentence on the Fentanyl charge and a potential 1-15-year prison sentence on the Methamphetamine charge.Â
In October of 2025, Cpl. Logan Cook, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office’s representative on the Southern Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, conducted controlled drug buys in Oceana utilizing a cooperating individual. Effie Gibson delivered both methamphetamine and fentanyl to the cooperating individual, and these deliveries were captured on an audio/video recording device.Â
Gibson is currently held in the Southern Regional Jail. She will be sentenced in Wyoming County Circuit Court on June 23rd, 2026 at 1:00.Â
