FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) -An Officer Involved Shooting leaves one dead in Fayette County. Sheriff Jess R. McMullen releases the following information regarding the incident.
On April, 19, 2025, in the afternoon hours, deputies were assisting the Fayetteville Police Department in the execution of a warrant at the Fayette Hills Apartments on Laurel Creek Rd. When deputies and officers were pulling into the parking lot of the complex, they did see the subject fleeing. Deputies and officers pursued the subject around the building. The subject then entered into his apartment and immediately exited armed with a machete and attempted to strike an officer, at the same time a deputy attempted to subdue the subject with his taser. Officers present were giving verbal commands to drop the weapon and surrender. The subject again attempted to strike the officers present, ultimately striking one officer with the weapon. Deputies on scene then fired their duty weapons at the subject as he continued to advance toward officers present swinging the weapon at them. The subject was pronounced dead at the scene.
This incident is currently being investigated by the WVSP.
