FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is facing multiple felony charges after West Virginia State Police say he failed to return a vehicle from an Ohio dealership test drive and was later stopped in Fayette County with drugs inside the vehicle.
According to State Police, Trooper N.J. Adams responded Wednesday, May 20, 2026, to a report of a stolen vehicle traveling southbound on Interstate 77 in Kanawha County.
Authorities said a Lexus bearing Ohio registration OJ 27043 had been reported stolen by a CarMax dealership in Ohio after two individuals allegedly failed to return the vehicle following a scheduled test drive.
A dealership representative, identified as Mr. Lang, told police the vehicle was supposed to be driven for no longer than 20 minutes after being taken from the dealership around 1:40 p.m. He later tracked the vehicle through GPS as it traveled into West Virginia.
Troopers located the Lexus after it exited Interstate 77 onto U.S. Route 60 eastbound. Police conducted a traffic stop near the community of Alloy in Fayette County.
The driver was identified as Logan West, while the passenger was identified as Katie Eagle.
During the stop, troopers reportedly detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. According to the complaint, Eagle admitted there was marijuana and methamphetamine inside the Lexus.
A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a small amount of marijuana and methamphetamine on the passenger-side floorboard. Neither occupant claimed ownership of the drugs, police said.
West was charged with grand larceny, conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of marijuana, and possession of methamphetamine.
The incident remains under investigation by the West Virginia State Police.
