BECKLEY, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – Construction has recently started on the old Beckley Police Department after Pro Windows Incorporated purchased the building in an auction.
While Beckley City Officials do not know the exact use of the building, a representative for Pro Windows Incorporated says the building may be used for residential use, business use, or both.
The building on Prince Street housed the police department for nearly 40 years before new headquarters were built next to the Beckley Intermodal Gateway along Neville Street and Leslie C Gates Place. After nearly 18 months of construction, the new Beckley Police Department opened in the summer of 2019.
When the Beckley City Council approved the construction of a new Beckley Police Department in 2017, it was made known that the Prince Street building, which had then become too small for the department, had several maintenance issues, including roof leakage and structural problems.
