WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 39-year-old woman is facing multiple criminal charges following a single-vehicle crash and subsequent investigation on Jan. 31, 2026, according to a criminal complaint.
State police said Cynthia Marie Lusk was identified as the driver involved in a crash reported at approximately 10:52 a.m. in the Glen Fork area of Wyoming County. Troopers were dispatched after 911 received reports of a single-vehicle accident with the driver unconscious.
Senior Trooper P.M. Browning reported that first responders administered Narcan twice to Lusk at the scene. The vehicle she was operating had previously been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as stolen on Jan. 30, 2026.
According to the complaint, Lusk was unable to explain what had occurred during the crash. Troopers assisted her from the vehicle, and she declined emergency medical services at that time.
While on scene, the trooper reported observing a hypodermic needle and aluminum foil in the driver’s seat area of the vehicle.
The trooper noted that Lusk’s driving privileges had previously been revoked due to prior driving under the influence offenses. She was placed under arrest and transported in a patrol vehicle.
While en route to the Jesse detachment, Lusk reportedly began showing signs of an overdose, becoming nonverbal and drifting in and out of consciousness. Troopers administered Narcan again and requested EMS assistance.
Lusk was transported to Welch Community Hospital, where Narcan was reportedly administered three additional times by EMS personnel. An emergency room nurse later advised troopers that a clear plastic bag containing a powder substance was found concealed in Lusk’s bra.
According to the complaint, Lusk later stated the substance was fentanyl, a Schedule II controlled substance. She consented to a toxicology blood draw.
A review of Lusk’s criminal history showed a prior DUI conviction on March 13, 2019, in Raleigh County and a conviction for driving revoked on May 23, 2022.
After being released from the hospital, Lusk was transported to the Welch detachment for processing without incident.
According to court records, Lusk has been charged with driving under the influence, second offense; driving revoked for DUI, second offense; receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle; and possession of a controlled substance.
The complaint indicates troopers requested a warrant through McDowell County Magistrate Court for the drug possession charge.
Lusk is currently out on bond.
