UPDATE: MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman was fatally stabbed in a heinous crime by her sister over her ‘nitpick.’
Lootpress is learning new details regarding a brutal murder that took place in McDowell County back on May 13, 2024. Latest records show that when deputies responded to a deceased person call at Box Care Lane in Big Sandy, they found the victim, Patsye Ruth Campanella, lying on her living room floor near the front door. Campanella was covered in blood and deceased.
During an interview with the suspect, who is the victim’s sister, Robin Crawford, 60, she stated she was upset because her sister was a ‘nitpick’ and because her sister stole her clothing.
Crawford says she then went to the kitchen, found a knife, and attacked her sister from behind.
McDowell County Deputies say that Campanella’s murder was premeditated. She was found stabbed 18 times.
Robin Crawford is currently being held at the Southwestern Regional Jail.

MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman has been charged with murder after a 70-year-old woman was found dead.
On May 13, 2024, at around 6 pm, the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a deceased person in the Big Sandy area of McDowell County, near Roderfield. Upon arrival, the Deputy asked for assistance when he noticed it appeared suspicious.
The victim, Patsy Campanella, 70, a white female, appeared to have been deceased, and after further investigation, Robin Crawford, 60, a white female, was arrested and charged with murder.
She was arraigned before Magistrate Mark Shelton, and no bond was set.
The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted in this investigation by the West Virginia State Police Welch Detachment and the West Virginia State Police Crime Scene unit.
