CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One person has died, and multiple individuals reportedly remain missing following severe flooding across West Virginia, state officials confirmed.
Governor Patrick Morrisey announced that one fatality has been confirmed, though the victim’s identity and the location of the incident have not been released.
Emergency crews conducted multiple evacuations in the southern region of the state, including 38 swift water rescues, according to Morrisey.
Officials also reported significant damage to roads and structures as floodwaters swept through the area.
Authorities continue search and rescue efforts as assessments of the damage are underway.
