WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Parkersburg man was killed Sunday afternoon in a collision involving a motorcycle and SUV on Emerson Avenue, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 2:41 p.m. on April 13 to the 10000 block of Emerson Avenue at the intersection with Ashby Ridge Road for a report of a crash involving injuries and a possible fatality.
Investigators said Jeffrey Valluzzi was riding a motorcycle northbound in the left lane of Emerson Avenue when a Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 15-year-old, attempted to turn left from Ashby Ridge Road onto Emerson Avenue.
The juvenile failed to yield and crossed into the northbound lanes, into the path of Valluzzi’s motorcycle.
Valluzzi swerved in an attempt to avoid the vehicle but struck the driver’s side door of the Equinox. He came to rest in the center turn lane, while the SUV stopped in the southbound lanes.
Valluzzi later died from his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation and findings will be turned over to the Wood County Prosecuting Attorney for review and possible charges.
Waverly Volunteer Fire Department and Camden Clark Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.
