UPSHUR COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 50-year-old Buckhannon man died Monday afternoon following a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 33, according to the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 1:23 p.m. on April 14, after receiving a 911 call reporting the crash.
Authorities say the vehicle, a 2012 Dodge 2500 pickup truck, was traveling westbound when it crossed the median into the eastbound lane, struck the guardrail, and rolled over an embankment before coming to rest in a stream.
The truck, which sustained heavy damage, was owned by United Contracting Inc. of Buckhannon.
The driver, Daniel Lynn Carson, 50, of Buckhannon, was pronounced dead at the scene.
As a result of the crash, U.S. Route 33 was temporarily shut down to eastbound traffic to allow for recovery efforts. The investigation remains ongoing.
Troopers from the West Virginia State Police Buckhannon and Elkins detachments assisted the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
