GRANT COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Federal investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding a fatal helicopter crash in Grant County on Tuesday, October 6.
Mitchell P. Pennington, 72, of Medley, was killed when the Hughes 269BA helicopter he was piloting crashed in a field along Patterson Creek Road at approximately 4:52 p.m.
Pennington was the only person aboard the aircraft.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating the crash.
According to the NTSB, investigators will focus on three primary areas: the pilot, the aircraft and the operating environment.
The cause of the crash remains unknown, and the NTSB has not yet released a preliminary report.
