FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon, April 29, 2026, along a roadway near Gauley Bridge, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded to the scene and found that an adult male had already been transported by ambulance with visible injuries.
Authorities said the driver reported that the pedestrian had a jacket over his head due to rain and entered the roadway, moving into her path of travel.
A witness told deputies the pedestrian had crossed the road and was returning when he stepped back into the roadway and was struck.
Additional witnesses confirmed that the man ran into the path of the vehicle.
The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition and recovering well.
Following an investigation, deputies determined that no criminal charges will be filed in connection with the incident.
