BARBOUR COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The driver of a tractor-trailer was sent to the hospital after his truck veered off the roadway and struck a guardrail and tree.
According to the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department, on July 10, 2023, at approximately 8:27 AM, the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 dispatch to Midway Road for a tractor-trailer accident with injuries and entrapment.
Responding units made contact with the driver who was complaining of neck and back injuries. The driver stated his trailer left the roadway and caused him to overcorrect and travel into the opposite lane.
The truck struck the guardrail and a tree before going off the roadway coming to rest beside a creek. Members of both Belington and Philippi Fire Departments extricated the driver and transferred custody to the Belington Emergency Squad to be transported to Broaddus Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.
The driver is expected to make a full recovery. The accident is being investigated by Deputy Gunnar Kennedy.
