PARKERSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 19-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder following an overnight shooting in Parkersburg.
Officers with the Parkersburg Police Department were dispatched at approximately 12:10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, to a residence in the 1000 block of 40th Street in response to a report of an adult male who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Responding officers immediately rendered aid to the victim until personnel from the Parkersburg Fire Department and emergency medical services arrived and continued life-saving efforts.
While officers were at the scene, information about a possible female suspect was shared with additional city officers and deputies from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities located and detained the suspect at approximately 12:19 a.m., about one mile from the shooting scene.
Despite life-saving measures, the male victim died at the residence. His name is being withheld pending notification of family members.
Police identified the suspect as Claudia Torres, 19, of Clarksburg. Torres has been charged with first-degree murder.
She was processed at the police department and transported to the Wood County Holding Center, where she is being held pending arraignment in Wood County Magistrate Court.
The investigation remains ongoing. The police department said additional information will be released when appropriate.
