PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital (PCH) announced that President and Chief Executive Officer Karen Bowling, MSN, RN, has been elected to a three-year term to represent West Virginia hospitals as the state delegate to the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Regional Policy Board.
The West Virginia Hospital Association (WVHA), which represents 78 hospitals and health systems statewide, selected Bowling to join the group of healthcare leaders who examine emerging policy issues and advise the AHA board of trustees on matters shaping national healthcare strategy. The AHA’s nine regional policy boards meet three times annually and play a critical role in ensuring that local and regional perspectives inform federal and national policy development.
Bowling serves as both chief executive officer of PCH and executive vice president of governmental affairs for the WVU Health System, positions that have placed her at the forefront of efforts to expand access, strengthen rural healthcare, and elevate quality for patients across West Virginia.
“Karen Bowling’s election to the American Hospital Association’s Regional Policy Board is a tremendous honor for West Virginia,” said WVHA President and CEO Jim Kaufman. “Her deep commitment to rural healthcare, understanding of both policy and practice, and extensive experience makes her an ideal representative for our state’s hospitals. We congratulate her on this well-deserved appointment.”
Bowling’s election and appointment underscore PCH’s expanding influence within both West Virginia’s healthcare landscape and the national conversation around hospital policy, rural access, and systemwide transformation.
