FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – LOOTPRESS projects that political newcomer Cy Persinger will win the Republican Primary for West Virginia’s 51st House of Delegates District, defeating incumbent Delegate Marshall Clay and businessman Dan Hill in Tuesday’s election.
According to unofficial results from Fayette County, Persinger led the three-candidate race with 659 votes, or 45.89% of the vote. Hill received 390 votes, or 27.16%, while Clay finished with 387 votes, or 26.95%.
A total of 1,436 votes had been cast in the race as of the latest update Tuesday night.
Persinger, who entered the race as a political newcomer, mounted a strong campaign against Clay, who was seeking another term in the House of Delegates.
The 51st District includes part of Fayette County. Persinger will face Democrat Colby Lopez in the General Election who ran unopposed in the Democratic Primary.
Election results remain unofficial until certified by the state.
