PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Mercer County Coalition for Healthy Communities has announced a pillow drive for first responders which will be accepting donations on Thursday and Friday.
The drive is being held at 215 S Walker Street in Princeton and will serve to provide much-needed rest and comfort for first responders working vigilantly to provide assistance and relief to residents of Western North Carolina and Tennessee who were impacted by the effects of Hurricane Helene.
“The devastation caused by Hurricane Helene has created an urgent demand for support. Emergency responders are on the front lines, often sleeping in makeshift environments with inadequate means of comfort. The public’s contributions can make a tangible difference in their recovery efforts,” said MCCHC in a statement. “Community members, local businesses, and organizations are encouraged to participate in this vital cause. Together, we can show our support for those who dedicate their lives to saving others during crises.”
The drive will operate from 9:30am to 4:30pm on Thursday, October 3, 2024, and Friday, October 4, 2024. It has been requested that those wishing to contribute only offer new pillows for donation. Those seeking additional information on the pillow drive effort have been encouraged to reach out to Candace Harless at candace.harless@strongcommunities.org.
Southern West Virginia residents have been encouraged to seek out opportunities to volunteer and contribute to their own communities during this time of need.
