CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia on Tuesday adopted recommendations of its Pole Attachment Task Force to settle disputes on how companies should share utility poles.
The action is considered essential to expanding broadband services across the state.
On August 24, 2024, the Commission opened the proceeding on its motion to initiate a general investigation to establish the task force to consider several issues that had caused disputes over pole attachments.
After adopting an extensive set of standards in Tuesday’s order, the Commission noted that further proceedings in this matter will be necessary.
The various parties involved were ordered to meet within 10 days to confer and establish additional hearing dates for those proceedings on “outstanding issues” not resolved in this order. The West Virginia Office of Broadband and the West Virginia Broadband Council were invited to participate in these proceedings.
