MONONGALIA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man found dead during a search operation at Cooper’s Rock State Forest on Thursday, May 7.
Authorities said the deceased was Andrew Zimmer, 39, of California.
Deputies responded to the forest at approximately 1:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a possible missing person.
According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation began after Zimmer’s abandoned vehicle was discovered in the area.
Search and rescue teams joined deputies in conducting an extensive search of the surrounding forest and rugged terrain. Zimmer was later located and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office said its investigation into the death has been completed and determined that no foul play was involved.
Officials also extended condolences to Zimmer’s family and friends.
