WAR, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A McDowell County man is facing multiple drug and traffic charges following an incident Sunday in the City of War.
According to the War Police Department, Christopher R. Sturgill was arrested following an incident on August 23, 2026, in the area of Beckner Hill Road.
War Police officers were assisted by the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office during the incident and subsequent investigation.
Police say Sturgill was charged with:
- Improper registration
- Expired motor vehicle inspection
- No insurance
- Driving revoked for DUI
- Fleeing in a vehicle
- Fleeing on foot
- Obstructing an officer
- Possession with intent to deliver marijuana
- Possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine
- Possession with intent to deliver fentanyl
- Maintaining a vehicle for the sale of drugs
The War Police Department thanked the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office for assisting with the investigation.
Officials said the department remains committed to combating illegal drug activity and working with other law enforcement agencies to protect residents of War and McDowell County.
Sturgill is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
