MULLENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Wyoming County man was arrested following a domestic incident in Mullens after police say he allegedly assaulted a woman, attempted to force himself on her and prevented her from leaving an upstairs room.
According to a criminal complaint, an officer was dispatched to Center Street in Mullens on July 9, 2026, for a reported physical domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, the officer spoke with Jason Binion, who allegedly admitted that he had been “slapping” at the woman while she was attempting to complete paperwork and eventually made contact with her. Binion also allegedly admitted to swinging a shower curtain rod around and preventing the woman from going downstairs.
When the officer asked Binion directly whether he had kept the woman from coming downstairs, he allegedly replied, “yes,” according to the complaint.
Binion was then placed in handcuffs while the officer spoke with the alleged victim.
The woman told police she had arrived at the residence around 8:45 p.m. with two children and later went upstairs to complete work on her laptop.
According to her statement, Binion allegedly began attempting to touch and kiss her despite being told to stop. She told police that when she attempted to get up, Binion allegedly threw her onto a bed and attempted to force himself on her while trying to remove her clothing.
The woman alleged she was able to push him away, but when she later attempted to go downstairs, Binion pushed her onto the bed again and began slapping her.
She was eventually able to call 911, according to the complaint.
While she was on the phone with emergency dispatchers, Binion allegedly attempted to kick her in the head twice but did not make contact. The woman told police that a family member came upstairs and attempted to intervene.
The complaint further alleges Binion grabbed the woman’s foot and pulled her from the bed.
The woman told police she later struck Binion in the mouth with the back of her hand as he allegedly continued attempting to grab, kiss and touch her.
According to the complaint, Binion then allegedly grabbed a broomstick and stood at the top of the stairs to prevent the woman from leaving. She alleged he began hitting her with the broomstick before she threw an object at him and was eventually able to make her way downstairs as police arrived.
The responding officer reported that Binion appeared to be intoxicated. When asked whether he had taken anything, Binion allegedly told the officer he was taking Zoloft, had used marijuana and had been drinking Mucinex DM.
Binion was taken into custody following the incident.
All charges and allegations contained in a criminal complaint are accusations. Binion is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
