MILTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Milton Police Department officer was injured Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle near Milton Elementary School, according to the West Virginia State Police.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:12 a.m. on April 17.
Officers from the Huntington Detachment and the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene, where Officer Ian Galloway had been hit by a passing motorist while directing traffic for arriving school buses.
State Police say the driver remained on the scene and cooperated fully with the investigation.
No signs of impairment were observed, and it is believed the school zone lights had not yet been activated at the time of the incident.
Officer Galloway was transported to Cabell Huntington Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing. Troopers will consult with the Cabell County Prosecuting Attorney to determine whether any charges will be filed.
