Midland Trail 4, Sherman 2
Hico – The “Big Easy” Larry Bigham pitched a complete game with 13 strikeouts and Bo Persinger added a home rune to lead Midland Trail to a 4-2 win over Sherman Monday.
Aaron Dempsey hit a triple, a single and had an RBI for the Patriots (14-3), while Cody Harrell smacked a double.
Andrea’ Skeens had a single and an RBI for the Tide.
Independence 18, Liberty 1 (5 innings)
The visiting Patriots scored nine runs in the first inning and went on to defeat county rival Liberty 18-1 Monday in five innings.
Cole Cunningham had a double and four RBI, while Clay Basham had two hits and drove in three runs. Basham was also stellar on the hill allowing just one run on two hits and striking out 10 Raiders.
Larry Barnett drove in three runs and J.D. Monroe had a pair of base-knocks and two RBI.
James Monroe 7, Greenbrier West 6 (8 innings)
Lindside – Luke Fraley drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift James Monroe past Greenbrier West 7-6 Monday night.
The Cavaliers had rallied with two runs in the seventh inning to send the game to extras.
Jeffrey Jones had two RBI for the Mavericks, while Cole Vandall drove in a pair of runs for West.
Shady Spring 26, Oak Hill 13
Oak Hill – Shady Spring built a 17-0 lead and went on to double-up Oak Hill 26-13 Monday in an error filled contest.
Parker Brown had a pair of hits with five RBI and Brody Seabolt added two more hits and drove in four runs. Jacob Meadows drove in three runs and had two hits, while Cam Manns had four hits on the night for the Tigers.
Connor Smith and Aiden Smith had two hits each for the Red Devils and Bailey Bess drove in two runs.
