Independence 3, Oak Hill 2
Oak Hill – Atticus Goodson went the distance allowing just two hits and striking out 10 to lead Independence past Oak Hill 3-2 Monday at Jerry Epperly Field.
Michael McKinney hit a solo blast, while Tanner Sipes had a pair of hits including double and an RBI. Dylan Darnell also had a double for the Patriots.
Zane Wolfe had a double and drove in both Oak Hill runs.
Sophomore Jayden McClain was the tough-luck loser, allowing just five hits, while striking out six in 5 1/3 innings of work.
Bluefield 7, Graham, Va. 5
Kerry Collins collected two hits, one a home run, Monday as Bluefield defeated rival Graham, Va. 7-5 at Graham.
Will Youther also collected tow hits for the Beavers, driving in two runs while Hunter Harmon picked up the win.
Bluefield improves to 14-5 with the win.
Beckley 14, Westside 2
Clearfork – Beckley collected 12 hits en route to downing Westside 14-2 Monday in Clearfork.
Danny Dickenson led the way for the Flying Eagles with four hits, driving in five runs.
Blake Stratton and Logan Williams hit a home run each for the visitors in the win.
Bryson Blankenship drove in both of Westside’s runs in the loss.
Beckley improves to 18-6 and will host Oak Hill on Wednesday.
Wyoming East 9, Greenbrier West 8
New Richmond – Tanner Whitten hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to cap a three-run frame and lift Wyoming East past Greenbrier West 9-8 Monday in New Richmond.
Trailing 5-0 heading to the bottom of the fifth, the Warriors chipped away with three runs, only to see West answer with three more in the sixth.
East’s bats stayed hot, scoring three to answer and three more in the final frame to secure the win.
Jacob Howard led the Warriors with a pair of doubles, driving in three runs while Whitten collected three hits and drove in two runs.
Brayden McClung was 3-for-4 for West while his older brother Chase hit a home run.
