Midland Trail 15, Westside 1 (5 innings)
Hico – Midland Trail scored four runs in the first inning and seven in the fourth to defeat Westside 15-1 in five innings Monday.
Cade Kincaid had four hits, including a triple, and drove in five runs, while Cody Harrell collected four hits and drove in four runs to lead the Patriots.
Danny Nottingham had a double and a triple in two official at-bats and Griffin Boggs hit a double and had an RBI.
Midland Trail hosts Liberty Tuesday.
Wyoming East 10, PikeView 0 (6 innings)
New Richmond – Jacob Howard homered and drove in four runs Monday as Wyoming East defeated PikeView 10-0 in six innings in New Richmond.
Howard continued his worried stretch to open the season, nothing three hits while Zach Hunt matched him going 3 for 3 with a pair of RBIs.
Garrett Mitchell led the effort on the mound for the Warriors with 11 strikeouts in five innings of work, allowing just four hits.
Jared Vestal and Nathan Riffe led PikeView with two hits each in the loss.
East improves to 4-2 and will travel to Summers County on Tuesday.
Bluefield 11, Oak Hill 6
Oak Hill – Hunter Hamron and Caleb Fuller drove in three runs each as Bluefield scored seven straight runs and held off an Oak Hill rally for an 11-6 win over their Class AAA foes Monday in Fayette County.
Six errors threatened to overshadow a solid performance in which Bluefield ace Kerry Collins allowed just one earned run, striking out eight in five innings.
That proved no to be the case as the Beavers made a 7-1 lead stick despite Oak Hill slashing it to 7-6 after four innings.
Class AA No. 2 Bluefield improves to 7-0 and will host No. 4 Independence on Wednesday.
