Gardner – Jared Vestal and Drew Damewood collected two hits each as PikeView used a sixth-inning run to edge Liberty 2-1 Friday in Gardner.
Vestal was stellar on the mound, allowing seven hits but striking out nine, pitching a complete game.
Jordan Pettry led the Raiders with a hit that drove in their only run of the game in the fourth inning. Vestal’s counterpart, Caden Gray pitched equally is well, allowing seven hits but none of the two runs he allowed were earned as both came on errors.
PikeView improves to 5-2 and will host Mingo Central on Saturday.
Shady 9, Princeton 8
Princeton – In a game where errors hurt both teams, the one with the fewest miscues came out on top.
Shady Spring took advantage of five Princeton errors Friday to escape with a 9-8 win Friday evening.
Cam Manns was excellent on the mound for the visiting Tigers, striking out 11 in four innings of work but errors hurt him with all four of the runs he yielded being unearned.
Trailing 6-4 after five innings, Shady erupted for five runs in the sixth, holding off a late Princeton rally to seal the deal.Shady improves to 4-0 and will host Nicholas County on Monday. Princeton will host St. Albans on Tuesday.
Van 5, Westside 1
Clearfork – Van scored four runs in the final two innings to defeat Westside 5-1 Friday evening in Clearfork.
Van pitcher Brayden Roe pitched a complete game for the Bulldogs, striking out 18 batters and allowing just one hit in the win.
Westside will host PikeView on Monday.
