Hinton – Summers County ran its record to 11-2 on the year with a doubleheader sweep of Midland Trail Saturday.
Ryan Oliveros picked up the win in game one going five innings allowing three hits, one earned run and striking out seven.
Jake Boone had two hits and two RBI in the Bobcats 8-5 triumph. Colton Jones had a double and one RBI.
Freshman Aiden Weis had two hits and two runs batted in for Trail.
Game two was all Summers County, 13-0, led by Jones who allowed only one hit over five innings. Jones also had another double and an RBI in the nightcap.
Oliveros had a pair of hits and three RBI, while Brandan Isaac had two RBI and extended his on-base streak to 42 games.
James Monroe 16, Richwood 0 (5 innings)
Richwood – One night after scoring 18 runs in a win at Wyoming East, James Monroe scored 16 in a shutout win over Richwood.
Carson Koen, who had a triple, and Kadyn Hines tallied three RBI to lead the Mavericks.
Peyton Gardinier collected two hits, including a double, and two RBI, while Cooper Ridgeway had a double and two RBI.
Bryce Neel allowed only three hits and fanned 10 Lumberjacks for the win.
Beckley 5, Tazewell, Va. 4
Tazewell, Va. 6, Beckley 1
Tazewell, Va. – Beckley traveled to Virginia and split a doubleheader with Tazewell Saturday.
In game one, the Flying Eagles broke a 4-4 tie on a RBI-single from Gage Price in the top of the seventh inning. Beckley out-hit the home team 7-4 and survived four errors to take its first-ever win over the Bulldogs.
Ty Evans, Maddex Sims, Andrew Gallaher and Brady Williams all had an RBI for the Flying Eagles.
The nightcap went to Tazewell 6-1 thanks to a strong pitching performance from Luke Childress who allowed only one run and had 12 strikeouts in a five inning game.
