Wyoming East 8, Westside 7
New Richmond – Wyoming East took round one of the county battle with Westside, 8-7 at the War Zone in dramatic fashion.
Ryan Mills singled home Zach Hunt with the walk-off winner after the Warriors trailed 6-0 through three innings of play.
Gage Cooper had two hits, including a double, and two RBI. Hunt and Miken Smyth also had a pair of hits and two RBI for Wyoming East (7-3).
Kadien Vance paced the Renegades (6-3) with three hits and five RBI, while Hayden Miller had two hits.
Nicholas County 12, Oak Hill 2 (6 innings)
Oak Hill – Nicholas County scored six runs in the top of the first inning and cruised past Oak Hill 12-2 in six innings at Jerry Epperly Field.
Caleb Burns smacked a home run and drove in two runs, while Caleb Jarvis had a double and three RBI. Coleton Hellums hit a double, a single and drove in two runs for the Grizzlies (7-3).
Hunter Elswick and Connor Smith each had an RBI for the Red Devils (7-5).
Robert C. Byrd 18, Independence 8 (6 innings)
Linsly Academy 12, Independence 2 (5 innings)
Clarksburg – Independence dropped a pair of games Saturday on the road.
Robert C. Byrd scored 12 runs in the bottom of the sixth to defeat the Patriots 18-8, while Linsly Academy topped Indy 12-2 in five innings.
Degan Williams had a triple, a double and three RBI against RCB, while Cole Cunningham and Micah Cuthbert each hit a double.
The Patriots held an 8-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning.
Linsly scored four runs in the first, third and fifth innings. Blake Stratton and Levi Barnett had doubles, while Cunningham and Williams each had one RBI.
