Shady Spring 17, Midland Trail 11
Hico – Shady Spring raced out to a 13 run lead and went on to defeat Midland Trail 17-11 in a slug-fest.
Adam Richmond smacked a homer, driving in three runs and Josh Lovell also had a big fly to pace the Tigers. Alex Johnston collected three hits, including a double, while Evan Belcher added a double, a single and had two RBI.
Cameron Manns scored twice and drove in two runs and Tyler Reed scored four times.
Griffin Boggs had three hits, including a double and drove in three runs for the Patriots. Larry Bigham and Alex Dempsey had two hits apiece.
Shady Spring hosts country rival Independence Thursday in a showdown of undefeated teams, while Trail hosts Nicholas County Thursday.
Woodrow Wilson 9, Nicholas County 8
A walk-off sacrifice fly by Ty Evans was the difference Wednesday night to lift Woodrow Wilson past Nicholas County, 9-8.
After falling behind early, the Flying Eagles took a 7-3 lead into the sixth inning. The Grizzlies regained the lead scoring five runs in the sixth before Woodrow tied things up in the bottom of the inning.
Logan Williams, Chase Tolliver, Danny Dickenson and Blake Stratton all had two hits apiece in the win. Dickenson and Stratton each hit a double.
Grayson Kesterson had four hits for Nicholas County, while Kendall Giles drove in three runs and J.P. Girod drove in two. Cole Brown had three hits including a double.
Both team play again Thursday. Nicholas is at Midland Trail and Woodrow Wilson travels to Liberty.
Bluefield 14, Princeton 4
Princeton – Four players notched three hits each for Bluefield Wednesday as the Beavers secured a 14-4 win over Princeton.
Ryker Brown, Bryson Redmond, Hunter Harmon and Kerry Collins combined for 12 of the Beavers 13 hits with Brown driving in four runs.
Brown was also stellar on the mound, striking out 14 in six innings of work, allowing just three runs.
Collins was a menace at the plate, finishing a double short of the cycle with a home run and a triple highlighting his evening.
Jordan Bailey led Princeton with a 4 for 4 showing at the plate, driving in two runs.
Bluefield improves to 5-0 and will host PikeView on Thursday.
