The Wyoming County Board of Education voted to terminate the contact of Wyoming East boys basketball coach Derek Brooks at a board meeting on Monday, Dec. 16 at Westside High School.
Calls made to Wyoming County superintendent John Henry, who recommended the termination, were not returned at the time of publishing.
When Brooks was reached by phone call he had no comment on the situation.
Brooks took over ahead of the 2016-17 season, leading the Warriors to state tournament berths in 2017 and 2022.
He had been away from the team on administrative leave since Nov. 20 at which point assistant coach Herbie Brooks assumed interim head coach responsibilities.
The job was posted on the Wyoming County Board of Education website effective Tuesday, Dec. 17.
