The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for a fourth year.
Below are the candidates for the first two weeks of the boys basketball season. Voting will close Saturday, Dec. 28 at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores and statistics. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com.
- MJ Patton, Summit Christian – Patton averaged over 20 ppg, collecting a trio of 20-point performances.
- Payton Bailes, Midland Trail – Bailes averaged 20.4 ppg across five games for the Patriots.
- Kadyn Hines, James Monroe – Hines averaged 14.5 points per game for the Mavericks in the opening two weeks.
- Elijah Hall, PikeView – Hall scored 21 points as PikeView noted a win over Bluefield.
- Trey Stump, Nicholas County – Stump averaged 21.5 points per game as the Grizzlies started 1-1.
- Broc Johnson, Wyoming East – Johnson netted 17 in a season-opening win over Nicholas County.
- Asher Barclay, Greenbrier West – Barclay scored 20 in a win over Meadow Bridge.
- Drew Fitzwater, Greater Beckley – Fitzwater averaged 15.2 points per game over the first two weeks of the season, finishing with a pair of double-doubles.
- Nathan Dixon, Greenbrier East – Dixon averaged 17.5 points per game during a 1-1 week for the Spartans.
- Jaylon Walton, Beckley – Walton Scored 19 in a season-opening win at Greenbrier East.
- Trent Roles, Meadow Bridge – Roles netted 30 points in a win for the Wildcats.
- Zayden Neely, Princeton – Neely scored 12 in a win over Summit Christian.
- Jack Williams, Shady Spring – Williams scored 20 against Independence, finishing with a pair of dunks and 10 rebounds.
